The Global Leaders' Meeting on Women took place in Beijing, China, running from October 13 to 14, 2025.
The event was significant as it marked the 30th anniversary of the 1995 Beijing World Conference on Women.
Co-hosted by the Chinese government and UN Women, the meeting's central theme focused on accelerating women's all-round development globally.
Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered the keynote address at the summit. Key discussions at the event emphasized linking women's empowerment with technology, green growth, and modernization.
In a major announcement, China pledged $10 million in support to UN Women and a further $100 million via the South-South Cooperation Fund.
During the meeting, the Global Centre for Women's Capacity Building was also launched at China Women's University. Among the attendees was Charlotte Songue, interviewed by Xinhua on women's rights in the DRC.
The event underscored the ongoing international commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women across the globe.
