Reports on the ODM party refunding Mvita MP Nassir, Abdullswamad Sheriff his nomination fee for the Mombasa governor seat ticket are fake.

Daily  Star Afriq reported that the ODM party has refunded the MP his Sh500,000 nomination fee after it opted to give Businessman Suleiman Shahbal the ODM party ticket for the governor race.

Shahbal and Nassir are the front runners for the ODM ticket in the Mombasa Governor race.

"Mvita MP Abdullswamad Nassir has been refunded his Sh500,000 by the ODM party. The party has decided to give the ticket to businessman Suleiman Shahbal after learning of his capability to deliver the seat," the fake report said.

The fake report also quoted ODM party National Elections Board Chair Catherine Mumma as having weighed in on the Mombasa County politics.

"What we are seeking is to win the seats. Some people are strong and have crossed from other parties whom we will give the tickets," the fake report quoted Mumma.

Pesacheck has however debunked the report and can authoritatively say it is fake.

The ODM party has not issued a direct ticket to anyone in the Mombasa Governor race or refunded the Mvita MP his nomination fee, at least by the time of going to the press.

Secondly, Mumma has not issued any statement on the Mombasa Governor race or even spoken to the media.

The ODM party has also flagged the report as fake and Kenyans are now urged to treat such reports with the contempt they deserve.

"NEB Chairperson Ms Catherine Mumma has not addressed the media on anything to do with Mombasa County."

Kenyans can always verify such information by visiting the official social media handles of the ODM party to confirm the authenticity.

Also, persons mentioned in such reports will always have a say on it and one can easily tell by also checking their social media handles if they have shared such.
