That President Uhuru Kenyatta (pictured) launched a small arms factory in Ruiru, Kaimbu county, on Thursday last week is no longer news. What is news is the conversation it has stirred. Among the questions being posed by Kenyans is who is the local supplier of the raw materials being used to make the arms? Word has it an influential business lady could be  the main supplier to the factory set to produce 12,000 assault rifles. State House said 60 per cent of the factory's resources are local.

Two social media influencers are fighting. Reason? Corridors has been told  the two bloggers are in a vicious battle to control a political party. The difference that has caused confusion among thousands of party supporters became evident last week when the two laid bare their tussles on social media. One, who is also a strong ally of a party stalwart and who has been running a page on a defunct outfit, maintains his was the legit account. The other blogger is pulling strings saying his page with 13,000 members is the official one. The latter wants to run the page from the private office of the party leader but the lad wants the party’s affairs controlled from the party’s offices. It now remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the game.

A cultural organisation should urgently consider educating its members on use of social media. A senior elder shocked those on his contact list after his private WhatsApp wooing a young girl ended up on his status exposing the revered and well educated man to public scorn. Over Easter weekend, and unknown to him, his contacts were treated to serious and carefully worded juicy romantic lyrics coined in his native language and running on his status for hours. The technologically challenged man even after being alerted had to source for help from a friend to get rid off of the embarrassing content.

The hurriedly fenced state parastatal owned land situated at the junctions of Uhuru Highway-Kenyatta Avenue and Loita Street has raised eyebrows among the members of the public. Last week, members of the public woke up to a new iron-sheet perimeter wall erected round the valuable land. No signage showing approvals from Nairobi Metropolitan Services or even Nema. Last year there was a tussle between the parastatal and tenants, which forced the land to be subdivided into two. On one side, the parastatal has been parking its vehicles with police officers manning the section. The other half was left to a tenant. What is going on?
