Widow of ex-Equity CEO wants paternity case hastened

A widow of former Equity Bank CEO John Kagema has requested that his body be exhumed to ascertain the paternity of five children he allegedly sired.

Serah Wanjiru wants fresh samples extracted and DNA tests conducted. Kagema died on December 26 last year at the Aga Khan University Hospital after what family members described as “a long fight with ill-health”.

The condition has made her life much more difficult, coupled with pressures from people around her.

Jowie ‘wanted his security firm’ to probe Monica murder

A brother of murdered businesswoman Monica Kimani on Wenesday relived the grim scene that greeted him when he discovered his sister’s body in a bloodied bathtub.

 

George Kimani said Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, who has been charged alongside his ex-fiancée Jacque Maribe with the killing, said he had a security firm that would help in investigations.


KRA commits to clear Sh27.6 billion VAT refund backlog by April

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has committed to clearing pending 6,000 VAT refunds worth Sh27.6 billion by April next year.

Speaking at the fifth joint meeting with the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) yesterday, KRA commissioner general Githii Mburu said his agency has established a project team to facilitate the clearance in order to unlock funds into the real economy.


KQ stowaway: Cold case or cover up?

Questions have emerged regarding a stowaway who is believed to have clung onto a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi only to drop from the London skies.

The man is thought to have found his way into the plane's undercarriage at Jomo Kenyatta International airport before embarking on an 8,000-mile overnight flight to London.
