Slain lawyer Robert Chesang’s widow now wants to be allowed to bury him on their land in Kajiado. Pauline Omungala on Monday asked the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Machakos to block the Chesang’s relatives from burying him without her consent.

She told the court that Chesang’s family advertised funeral plans in the media without her consent and made burial arrangements without consulting her as the legal wife.

EACC hands DPP file on Sh4.8 billion foiled prisons' purchase

The noose is tightening around suspects in the failed Sh4.8 billion Prisons security equipment purchases and EACC detectives are only awaiting approval from the Director of Public Prosecutions to pounce.

The Star has established that the EACC has formally sent the investigation file to DPP Noordin Haji in what is likely to claim high-profile suspects in government and heighten the tension rocking Jubilee.


Relatives of Kenyans who perished in Ethiopia fly to Addis

Ethiopian Airlines last evening flew 64 relatives of the Kenyans who died in the Sunday plane crash to Addis to identify their charred remains.

They were received by Transport PS Esther Koimett and embassy staff, led by ambassador Catherine Mwangi. They booked into skylight hotels.


 

NLC suspends land acquisition for dams in probe

The National Land Commission has suspended compulsory land acquisition for the Arror and Kimwarer dam projects which are under investigations by DCI.

The NLC had gazetted 6,000 acres of land in Kerio Valley that was to be acquired from more than 1,000 families but officials from the commission have withdrawn from the region.


Seal loopholes in illicit financial flows, Kiptoo says

Kenya is seeking to tighten the grip of illicit financing that could be aided through deposits or securities and real estate.

Trade PS Chris Kiptoo said there are loopholes existing in laws meant to ward off fraudulent individuals and corporations, hurting revenue collection targets.


Sonko nominee put to task over D+ KCSE grade

Governor Mike Sonko's Environment CEC nominee was put on the spot over her D+ KCSE grade.

“If I was not positive on the change I want to make, I wouldn't have applied for the position. That D+ in my paper is not a failure but what I can bring on the table," Sonia Birdi, a former nominated MP told MCAs.
