Botswana reports first three COVID-19 cases as pandemic bites

As at March 30, WHO reported 693,224 confirmed cases globally with 3,215 deaths.

• The landlocked country in Southern Africa through its Health Minister Lemogang Kwape said it had recorded its first three cases of coronavirus.

• Kwape on state television on Monday said the three people who had tested positive for the virus were currently in quarantine and had recently travelled to Britain and Thailand.

Botswana has become the 47th country in Africa to report the latest case of the COVID-19.

The landlocked country in Southern Africa through its Health Minister Lemogang Kwape said it had recorded its first three cases of coronavirus.

Kwape on state television on Monday said the three people who had tested positive for the virus were currently in quarantine and had recently travelled to Britain and Thailand.

 

According to the World Health Organisation situation report, as at March 30, there were 693,224  globally confirmed cases with 33, 106 deaths (3,215 deaths having happened in 24 hours).

There have been 3,486 confirmed cases in Africa with 60 deaths.

At least 482 new cases with 9 deaths had been reported in 24 hours.

Kenya so far has a total tally of 50 confirmed cases with one recovery and one death.
