Mount Kenya University (MKU) continues to impact global leadership through its diverse partnerships. The chancellor, Prof John Struthers, said during the 28h graduation ceremony that over the last few months, the university has forged several new partnerships.

Among the recent ones is the one with Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy.

Over the years, the university has established strong and diverse collaborations with leading institutions across Europe, the United Kingdom (UK), Japan, Asia and Africa, to enhance research, innovation, and academic exchange.

MKU collaborates with Leipzig University under the Erasmus+ Programme, offering support to student innovators aiming to establish start-ups in Germany or local production units.

This partnership enables top innovators to participate in the annual Born Global Start-up Festival in Leipzig, providing a platform to showcase their innovations on the international stage and network with global entrepreneurs.

Also, MKU sends students to partner institutions such as Vincent Pol University in Poland and Cyril and Methodius University in Slovakia as part of its academic exchange programmes.

These opportunities expose students to advanced academic and research environments. Additionally, they open pathways for employment, with some students successfully absorbed by local firms in Poland.

These collaborations reflect MKU’s commitment to global partnerships that foster skills development, entrepreneurship, and knowledge exchange for its students, aligning with the university’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates.

In addressing graduate unemployment, MKU is a key partner in the Africa Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS Project).

The initiative is aimed at enhancing employability among graduates by fostering collaboration between universities and industry.

ACCESS focuses on innovative service-learning models, entrepreneurial education, and real-world problem-solving, enabling students to develop skills aligned with industry needs.
