

A police officer was injured in a clash with a suspected and
wanted thief in Naivasha Town.
A team of police officers had gone to Kayole area in the town
to pursue a wanted suspect for stealing energy equipment and illegally
connecting power to houses when the incident happened.
Police said the suspect tried to escape, prompting one of the officers
to open fire. It was then that a ricochet hit one of the officers in the right hand
and left ankle, injuring him.
He was rushed to hospital where he was treated and discharged
in fair condition.
The suspect was later arrested. Police said he had an active
warrant of arrest for stealing energy equipment.
He will be arraigned on Monday, December 8, police said.
Elsewhere, a raid on a house in Kariobangi South, Nairobi, saw the recovery of assorted vehicle number plates.
This followed claims that stolen vehicles were ending up in the area.
The police said they recovered 34 pieces of
complete registration number plates, 68 pieces of incomplete ones, 34 half
pieces of registration number plates, three rolls of chassis number stickers, a
roll of blue iron sheet, two rolls of white and yellow reflective sheets and
assorted registration frames.
Police said the owners of the compound escaped the
scene.
Efforts to trace him were ongoing, police said. Detectives are investigating the claims that stolen
vehicles end up in the area for changes before they are driven out to other
markets.
Meanwhile, a suspected thug was lynched by a mob in an incident in Ongata Rongai, Nairobi.
The locals in Orange House area claimed the victim wanted to steal a parked motorcycle. He was stoned and left with fatal injuries. Police said he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The
body was moved to eh mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.
Such
cases have been on the rise in urban and rural areas amid calls for suspects to
be surrendered to the authorities for processing.
And on the Thika-Sagana railway line, a man was hit and killed by a passenger train.
The victim was crossing the railway line near a bridge in Muranga area when the train hit him on December 5 at about noon.
The
body was later moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Officials have been running a campaign to discourage unsafe crossing of the railway line. This follows a surge in such accidents which the officials term as avoidable.
