President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Oburu Oginga are hosting newly elected MPs for a breakfast meeting ahead of their swearing in today, Tuesday, December 2.
Ruto, in his capacity as the UDA party leader, and Oburu invited the seven last evening for breakfast in a meeting attended by parliamentary leadership from both the majority and minority.
“In recognition of your efforts and to keep the fire burning, I wish to invite all of you for a breakfast meeting with our Party Leader, Sen. Oburu Oginga,” a text message sent to ODM candidates last evening read in part.
The invite was followed by a phone call that informed the new MPs that they will meet at Orange House then proceed to State House to meet their UDA counterparts for a joint breakfast.
The invite was also extended to those who ran on the broad-based allied parties but were unsuccessful.
“May I heartily congratulate those who emerged victorious. I also wish to commend those who didn’t get elected as I encourage you to keep our banner high as we gear up for the general elections in 20 months’ time.”
The seven include Baringo Senator Kiprono Chemitei and MPs Maalim Hassan (Banisa), David Ndakwa (Malava) and Leo Muthende (Mbeere North) of UDA and Moses Omondi (Ugunja), Boyd Were (Kasipul), and Harrison Kombe (Magarini) of ODM.
The seven were gazetted yesterday by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to pave the way for their swearing in this afternoon when parliament resumes sittings.
National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge has published a public notice on the orientation session to be held this morning at the Speaker’s Gardens, Main Parliament Buildings, where the new legislators will be taken through various procedures before taking the Oath of Affirmation.
The induction will, among others, cover registration and collection of their bio-data, processing o parliamentary Ids, briefing on the use of the chamber, familiarisation of the precincts of parliament, members services and facilities; and an overview of key legislative matters.
“It’s further notified that the MPs-elect attend the orientation session with those original IDs, KRA PIN, original certificate of election issued by the IEBC and updated curriculum vitae,” the notice dated 2nd December 2025 reads.
