President William Ruto and Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi will be among the top Eastern African leaders who will attend the historic signing of Rwanda - Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace deal.

The Rwanda and DRC peace deal seeks to bring harmony to the volatile and conflict-ridden Eastern DRC that has been in turmoil for the last decade.

US President Donald Trump will host the leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Thursday morning at the United States Peace Institute.

President Ruto is the current co-chair of the EAC and has been instrumental in the peace negotiations after the EAC's Nairobi peace process and the SADC-led Luanda process were merged into a single, unified EAC-SADC initiative.

President Ruto and Mudavadi, who is the co-chair of the EAC, SADC inter-ministerial committee, have been actively involved in the DRC peace process, primarily by coordinating with their respective heads of state to endorse and implement a unified peace strategy.

Mudavadi arrived in Washington, DC, US, on Tuesday as an advance party, ahead of President Ruto's visit to the US for the Rwanda-Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace deal.

During the trip, the President and PCS will also hold bilateral meetings with the US government's State Departments, including Health and Trade, and a number of business forums.

Ruto is expected in Washington, DC, tomorrow morning for the historic meeting.

Apart from the DRC Peace Accord, President Ruto and PCS will attend meetings, including the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), IMF, and United States Trade Representative (USTR) meeting.

On his arrival, Mudavadi was welcomed by Amb. David Kerich, Kenyan ambassador to the United States, and his deputy, Ambassador Chris Kirigua.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed said Ruto will hold a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening Kenya–U.S. cooperation in trade, investment, health, and security.

He is also expected to witness the signing of the Kenya–U.S. Health Cooperation Framework, which transitions the long-standing 25-year health partnership into a sustainable, government-led model supporting Universal Health Coverage and advancing a self-reliant health system by 2030.

Hussein said the President will use the visit to outline Kenya’s new economic transformation agenda centred on human capital development, infrastructure expansion, agro-industrial growth, increased irrigation, and expanded dam construction.
