TikToker Cecilia Achieng
An online cab driver has described the tense final moments before TikToker Cecilia Achieng was struck and killed by a vehicle along a busy highway, months after her university graduation.
Patrick Muthami, a driver who said he had been called by Achieng’s friends to take her home, recounted that the group had requested the ride after she reportedly became intoxicated.
“I told them to pay upfront so that I could set off and drop the client without any issues, as the lady I was taking to Juja appeared heavily drunk and I didn’t want any problems,” he told TV47.
According to Muthami, the trip began normally, but a few metres after setting off, Achieng appeared agitated and questioned where she was being taken. She allegedly demanded to be let out of the cab.

As they neared the Ruiru flyover, he claimed her agitation intensified.
“She grabbed my shirt from behind and pulled back. I realised if I didn’t act quickly, we could cause an accident. So I held her hand with one hand while steering with the other,” he said.
Muthami said he called the friend who had booked the ride to explain that he could not continue with the trip.
He hoped that if her friends met them, she would calm down upon seeing familiar faces.
The driver said the friend asked to speak with Achieng, but she declined.
“The guy asked me, ‘Has she refused to speak to us completely?’ I said yes. He said, ‘Let her go; she knows what she’s doing,’” Muthami recalled.
Achieng then reportedly exited the vehicle and began walking along the pedestrian path by the highway, saying she would find her way back to her friend’s house.
That was the last time she was seen alive. Achieng, known to her TikTok followers as Cess, was later fatally hit by a vehicle on the highway.
Cecilia Achieng had gained popularity for her lively videos on TikTok, amassing a large online following.
Her sudden death has left fans and friends mourning a vibrant young woman, while her family continues to seek answers surrounding the tragedy.
