Leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza have expressed strong confidence that President William Ruto will be re-elected in 2027, dismissing any allegations of planned election rigging.
Speaking after Sunday Mass at Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Karen, which was presided over by Nairobi Archbishop Philip Anyolo, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the Constitution and ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.
Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku emphasised that the government has no intention to interfere with the electoral process.
“We are focused on fulfilling our promises to Kenyans. We believe that through development and service delivery, we will earn a second term,” CS Ruku stated.
He urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to establish all necessary structures for a credible election, assuring that the government will provide the required resources.
Ruku called for the 2027 polls to be free, fair, credible, and verifiable.
He also appealed to the Catholic Church, referring to the
bishops as his lifelong spiritual mentors, to partner with the government in
addressing national challenges and promoting unity.

Responding to a recent statement by Catholic bishops, Ruku expressed his disagreement, noting that the message did not reflect the collaborative spirit necessary for nation-building.
“Having been raised in a Catholic environment, I want my bishops to know that the President is working tirelessly to unite the country, grow the economy, and maintain peace. There should be no perception that government leaders are disconnected from society,” he said.
Ruku acknowledged the Church’s historic role in education, healthcare, and community cohesion and stressed the need for continued cooperation between religious institutions and the government.
Echoing these sentiments, Kuria West MP Mathias Robi dismissed election rigging claims made by Wajir Woman Representative Jehow Fatuma.
“In the last general election, few believed William Ruto could defeat a sitting President and a united opposition. But the IEBC delivered a credible process. We trust the same will happen in 2027,” said Robi.
“Parliament will protect the Constitution and ensure that the next elections are conducted according to the law.”
