Crime scene.

Police are investigating an incident in which a Ugandan national was robbed of Sh1.8 million after withdrawing the same from a bank in Mombasa town.

Altaf Asarat Ali told police he was attacked and robbed of the cash by men dressed in police uniforms.

He said he had left a bank and while on the road in Changamwe area, while headed for Nairobi in his Subaru salon car, he was stopped by three men.

One of the men was dressed in traffic uniform and was armed with a pistol when the incident happened at Portreitz H.O.B area on Friday at about 3 pm.

Muiruri's daughter, friend rescued days after abduction

A daughter of media personality Ciku Muiruri and her friend were Sunday rescued in a dramatic police operation after a week-long stay with their abductors.

Erica Gachoka, 26 and her friend Shanice Agose, 27 were missing for a week after their abduction in Nairobi’s Westlands area as they took a taxi home.

They were rescued from a house in Mangu, Weteithie area off Thika Highway, police said.

Two suspects who were holding them were arrested.

This is after they were found in the Ngoigwa area and one was found with Erica’s identity card.

The women looked emaciated when police and other agencies were present.

Suspects shot 

Four suspected thugs were Tuesday morning shot and killed in a house in Kijipwa, Takaungu area, Kilifi County and a stolen police AK47 rifle found on them.

The rifle had seven live bullets at the time of the recovery, police said.

The men were linked to a series of robberies that had been reported in Machakos, Kwale and Mombasa in which money was stolen.

The slain men include a suspect who was wanted in connection with a robbery incident at an M-Pesa shop in Mombasa in February this year that was captured on a CCTV camera.

Police intercept drugs 

Police are investigating the origin of a consignment of Pethidine that was intercepted in Nairobi while headed for Lagos, Nigeria.

The cargo was in 54 packages when police were informed it had been sent as a shipment.

In Kenya, the drug is controlled and classified as narcotics under the first schedule of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act

Pethidine is an opioid pain-relief medicine that was once widely used for pain caused by a range of conditions.

Pethidine is sometimes used to reduce labour pain in childbirth.

In the US it is classified by the DEA as Schedule II Controlled Substance, which means they are defined as drugs with a high potential for abuse, with use potentially leading to severe psychological or physical dependence.

Thieves hunted 

Police and health officials are investigating an incident in which 25 donkey carcasses were found in a forest in Limuru area, Kiambu County.

The donkeys had been stolen elsewhere and taken to the forest where they were slaughtered.

Health officials and police termed the incident criminal and announced they are hunting down those behind the incident.

Police said they had been tipped off and found 25 fresh carcasses of donkeys with their meat parked in sacks ready for transportation.

The donkeys’ skin had also been packaged for transportation to a market

The health officials processed the scene and ordered the disposal of the meat and skin.

Al Shabaab stops bus with passengers 

There was panic among passengers when al Shabaab militants stopped a passenger bus in Wajir on Thursday, June 15 as they searched for non-locals.

At least 55 passengers who were all locals headed for Mandera escaped unharmed in the 4 am incident, police said.

Witnesses who were survivors and passengers said they were on board Almukaran bus when they were attacked in Bore area about six kilometers from Tarbaj trading centre.

The gang of about 15 shot in the air forcing the driver to stop and then ordered all the passengers to alight.

The terrorists said they were looking for non-locals but failed to find any.
