A woman was Wednesday charged at a Kibera court for allegedly visiting an office, insulting some staff and damaging a man’s mobile phone for unknown reasons.

Diana Anne Kangu Akwale was charged before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu where she denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused person entered the office where Charles Kaaru was working, bungled the door, used abusive language to some staff and damaged his mobile phone and an IC all valued at Sh 20,000.

The offence was committed on May 20, at around 15:25pm at the Diamond Plaza apartment along Othaya Road in the Kileleshwa area within Nairobi County.

She was also charged with the second count of creating disturbances in a manner likely to breach the existence of peace contrary to the penal code.

No reason was given in court on why the woman allegedly committed the offence.

Her lawyer, Atandi Makori told the court that the woman was a law-abiding citizen and pleaded for leniency.

Makori told the court that the accused person was not a flight risk and pleaded that the court grants her lenient bond terms.

He urged the court to supply the defence with all the witness statements and documentary pieces of evidence that the prosecution intended to rely on during the trials.
