Seth Panyako has said he does not intend to be part of any political formation after he officially resigns from the ruling United Democratic Alliance.

Speaking during an interview on Spice FM on Wednesday, Panyako accused political parties of what he termed as conmanship, a lot he will not want to associate with again once he quits officially as UDA vice chairman.

"We are starting a movement called Partyless People's Movement, a movement that doesn't want to belong to any political party," he said.

"Political parties are now yellow; if someone doesn't agree with you, a phone call away and you are told leave and you must leave, they are very powerful you cannot argue with them," he added.

The nurses union secretary general chided UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala for claiming that he cannot purport to resign from UDA yet he was never an official.

The union leader announced on Saturday, May 27 that he had quit UDA following his stand against the housing levy proposed by the Kenya Kwanza government and the prevailing high cost of living.

He said he had spoken to President William Ruto about it and it was decided that his stand went against party ideologies.

"So today, I announce that I have resigned from the UDA leadership position and that I have decamped the UDA party," he said during the funeral of former politician Joseph Hamisi in Kakamega.

But in a quick rejoinder, Malala said Panyako was never an official in the UDA party.

"For the avoidance of doubt. UDA leadership is as follows: Cecil Mbarire (Chairperson), Hassan Omar (Deputy Chairperson), Cleophas Malalah (Secretary General), Japheth Nyakundi (Treasurer)," Malala tweeted.

"Seth Panyako must stop hallucinating, he has resigned from nothing," he added.

Panyako claimed Malala made the claims seemingly because he is ill-informed about the party's leadership structure.

"We don't even have a vice chairman in UDA, we have three deputy vice chairmen, we have three deputy secretary generals, we have three deputy treasurers then we have secretaries for different departments."

Panyako said all the leaders are serving on an interim basis awaiting the party's national elections later in August.

"Even Malala is not gazetted yet, he is not the SG of UDA because he's not been gazetted," he said.

The Kenya National Union of Nurses SG said he would have resigned from his post on Monday but following the claims by Malala, which were backed by ICT CAS Dennis Itumbi, he is awaiting a clarification from the Registrar of Political Parties to set the record straight before he leaves.

"I said I would not be resigning until today when I'm taking my letter to Registrar of Political Parties to give me an extract of the officials of UDA then my resignation will follow on Friday," Panyako said.
