Political Analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said the meetings between former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi are not a coincidence.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ngunyi said Uhuru and President William Ruto could be working on reconciliation and the two meetings are the latest indicators yet.

He said the reconciliation will most likely be pushed by Uhuru's peacemaking personality, adding that the two leaders needed each other.

"Uhuru Kenyatta will make peace with William Ruto because he is a peacemaker. He met Mudavadi in Burundi. And met Mudavadi in Nigeria. This is not a coincidence. Ruto needs Uhuru. Uhuru needs Ruto," he tweeted.

"And this is good for the country. Madaraka Day."

Ngunyi's remarks come after Uhuru and the Prime CS met in Abuja, Nigeria.

The two attended the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria on Monday.

This was their second meeting in May, following one in Bujumbura, Burundi.

On May 7, they met on the sidelines of the 11th high-level summit for peace and security for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the entire East Africa region as well.

The political analyst has been championing Uhuru and Ruto's reconciliation.

On April 20, he urged Ruto to make peace with Uhuru to ensure the country was safe.

"Dear Ruto, to stabilize this country, make peace with Uhuru Kenyatta. Forgive him for betrayal. If the two of you unite, the country will be safe," he said.

Then, Ngunyi described the retired president as a man with a beautiful soul and clarified that in his advice, he was not speaking on Uhuru's behalf.

"Under Uhuru, we waited too long to fix simple problems. I do not speak for Uhuru. But I know he has a beautiful soul," he said.

On Monday, Ngunyi revealed that he was trying to reconcile the two.

Uhuru and Ruto served together for two terms, in 2013 and in 2017.

They however fell out shortly after their re-election in 2017 after the March 9, 2018 Handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
