Police in Bungoma say they have summoned a popular preacher in the area for questioning.
Preacher Ronald Nakalila Wanyama, 'Nabii Yohana', 83 is supposed to appear before the Bungoma Police Commander on June 2.
Bungoma police commander Franci Kooli said the preacher will be questioned on how his church operates.
“There are some issues we want to understand from him,” he said.
He said they can’t understand if the church operates as a healing centre or religious organization.
Kooli said they had also summoned the owner of a church called Choma.
“We want to order here. We want to know how they are run,” he said.
Nabii Yohana runs the Church for All Nations church in Kanduyi, Bungoma, and has made headlines before, including claims that he would unveil his bible and new currency.
Kooli said the preacher, who has 42 wives and 289 children, is being investigated for alleged controversial teachings.
He is well-known for, among other things, a 93-book bible that he is said to have written and that he uses to preach at his ministry.
The police commander is also said to have devised his commandments, reducing the original twelve given by Moses in the Bible to 10.
He is the second preacher in the area to be summoned in less than a month over controversial teachings.
Police had summoned Bungoma-based preacher Eliud Wekesa, popularly known as Yesu wa Tongaren for grilling.
He was released by a court. Police want to know if the institutions are registered as per the law.
