The government of Kenya will release Sh28 billion to Primary schools, Junior and Senior Secondary schools in the country by Friday this week.

This is according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu who spoke at Kametho Primary and Junior Secondary School in Rarieda, Siaya County on Tuesday.

The CS issued money worth Sh2 million for the development of Kametho Primary and Junior Secondary School.

Machogu said that each pupil in primary school will receive Sh1, 450.

Those in Junior and Senior Secondary schools will receive Sh15,040 and Sh22, 240, respectively.

"I am here with good news because President William Ruto and the government have a new funding model that will give 70% of students from poor backgrounds access to education," Machogu said.

There is really no excuse for a parent not taking their children to school because the government is paying for education at each and every level, the CS said.

Machogu was accompanied by the Information Communication ad Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo who promised to develop digital libraries in various schools across the country.

"I will come back to launch digital libraries at Mahaya Vocational training centre and in other several schools around this place. We want our children to acquire digital skills and competencies in order for them to get global jobs," Owalo said.

According to the two CSs, digital skills will lower the unemployment burden in the country, which they said, is a commitment of the Kenya Kwanza government.

At the same time, the duo urged the people of Nyanza to support government programmes.

"I will not tire to remind you, my people, that this is the only government. There will be no other government before 2027," Owalo said.

On his part, Machogu urged Kenyans to embrace government programs like the contentious housing levy in order to grow the economy.

"The housing program will provide thousands of jobs countrywide. That is the only way that the economy of Kenya will be able to move forward. Unless we come out and move, the people of Kenya will not make progress," Machogu said.
