President William Ruto has emphasised integrity and vigilance within Government ministries and departments and warned his Cabinet against involvement in graft.

The President issued a stern warning to his Cabinet against involvement in corrupt practices and wastage of public resources in provision of services to the people.

He asked the Cabinet to honour their oath of fidelity to the Constitution and the people.

Ruto spoke on Tuesday when he chaired the fifth Cabinet meeting at State House, Nairobi.

The meeting agreed to ensure the prudent utilisation of public resources.

He said corruption and wastage of resources will not be tolerated.

The President had earlier vowed to deal with corruption cases and scandals in ministries.

His sentiments followed the sacking of Health PS Josephine Mburu and the entire board of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority including its chair Daniel Rono.

The move was in response to continued corruption practices at Kemsa.

The first scandal to hit the drugs supplier involved the loss of about Sh7 billion intended for purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential health facilities at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The funds ended up in the pockets of a few well-connected individuals who would later be christened 'Covid Millionaires.'

The individuals were accused of making money at the expense of fellow Kenyans who needed to be protected from the deadly virus.

At the moment, Kemsa is in the spotlight over a Sh3.7 billion mosquito net contract.

The country risks losing the amount after a bungled tender for the supply of treated mosquito nets.
