All eyes are on security forces as Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Leader Raila Odinga returns after a week-long sabbatical in Dubai.

The opposition leader's coalition had asked supporters to throng the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, to welcome him from the United Arab Emirates.

Raila is expected to arrive at the JKIA on Friday at 2.30 pm from Dubai.

The opposition leader will then join his supporters for a march to Kibra's Kamkunji grounds for a mega rally.

It is expected that police could seal off roads leading to the JKIA to prevent supporters from the crucial airport.

On Wednesday, National Assembly  Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi asked elected leaders in the Azimio coalition to go to JKIA to receive Raila.

“As a party, we are gearing to accord him a grand welcome on arrival at the JKIA, then join him in a grand procession to the people’s Baraza at the Kamkunji Grounds, Kibra Constituency, on the same day. The Rt Hon Odinga will address the nation at the said meeting,” the Ugunja town MP said on Wednesday.

“We appeal to all supporters of our quest for a just, fair and democratic nation that prioritises its citizens, to turn up in large numbers and welcome Rt Hon Odinga home and attend the Kibra rally. We further appeal to everyone attending the twin events to maintain peace and order as we have done in the past.”

Nairobi Azimio MCAs have called on supporters to turn up in their numbers at the JKIA.

In a press briefing on Thursday, the MCAs led by Majority Whip Moses Ogeto said that their presence at the airport will be peaceful.

“We will be at the JKIA as early as 6 am to welcome our beloved party leader Raila Odinga. Let all supporters join their leaders at the airport," he said.

Majority Leader Peter Imwatok urged the police to cease using force and tear gas in order to avert turning their peaceful procession into chaos.

“We love peace and don’t take our kindness for cowardice.  We just want to peacefully welcome our leader home for a mega rally in Kibra,” he said.
