The Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition has stamped authority over its decision to de-whip rebel Nairobi MCAs from the county Assembly.

Majority leader Peter Imwatok on Thursday emphasised that the Jubilee party being part of Azimio will not entertain joy riders.

“The three members have officially been de-whipped from any engagement of the Azimio coalition at the assembly. We will not entertain joy riders,” he said.

Azimio had earlier de-whipped three Nairobi county Jubilee MCAs for going to bed with the government.

The MCAs include Nominated MCA Wanjiru Kariuki, Karura ward rep Kamau Fiu Fiu and Robert Mbatia of Kariobangi South. Each of the members received their letters personally.

They had been accused of working against Azimio.

Going further, Imwatok gave the three Jubilee MCAs an ultimatum, to either move to UDA or resign.

The de-whipped MCAs have also been warned not to transact any business at the assembly using the Azimio coalition.

This means that even they will not attend plenary sittings under Azimio nor travel using the coalition’s name.

“All those MCAs who purport to be the spokesmen of Kanini Kega in this assembly, from today will not transact business under Azimio. That is done and dusted,” Imwatok added.

He emphasised that Jubilee is under Kioni and as Nairobi Azimio MCAs they will defend the party all the way

Deputy Speaker Paul Kados said as Jubilee MCAs will support and attend the mega rally set to take place on Friday upon Raila’s arrival.

"On tomorrow’s proceedings, as Jubilee party members we shall join our brothers in Azimio who are fighting for democracy on behalf of Kenya,” he said.

Kados strongly condemned the chaos which took place on Wednesday at the Jubilee headquarters.

He applauded the retired President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta for coming out strongly to defend democracy and demonstrating true statesmanship.

In addition, the deputy speaker urged the police to avoid being used by the government.

“We in Azimio are people who love peace and even when we are executing our duties on behalf of people we are never biased. So the police should stop being used to fight them,” Kados said.
