On the radar: Security beefed up ahead of Azimio third protest

  • The Raila Odinga-led Azimio La Umoja coalition will hold its third protest on Thursday.
  • The court is expected to rule on the bail application for rally driver Maxine Wahome who is charged with the murder of her boyfriend Asad Khan.

There is a heavy presence of anti-riot police on most routes to and out of the Central Business District in Nairobi.

This comes as Azimio la Umoja coalition is set to hold its third anti-government protest on Thursday.

The police officers were deployed on Wednesday night on major roads and along highways within the city.

Fonseca murder case

The High court will on Thursday hear the sentencing of Venezuelan diplomat Dwight Sagaray who was found guilty of murdering envoy Olga Fonseca in 2012.

Dwight was 2012 arraigned at the Milimani Law Court and charged with the murder of Fonseca.

He was charged alongside Ahmed  Omindo, Alex Sifuna, Moses Kiprotich and Kirui Chelogoi. Another suspect Mohamed Ahmed Hassan was never captured and warrants of his arrest remain unexecuted to date.

Fonseca was found murdered in her Runda residence in Nairobi. 

Maxine murder case

Court to rule on bail application for rally driver Maxine Wahome who is charged with the murder of her boyfriend and fellow rally driver Asad Khan.

It is alleged that on December 12 at Preston Apartments on Oloitoktok Road, she murdered Asad Khan.

She denied the charge before Justice Lilian Mutende.

European Union - Kenya partnership

The European Union and European Commission have committed to back President William Ruto’s development plan for Kenya.

This followed a Wednesday meeting with EU Council and the EU Commission’s leaders Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels, Belgium.

PSC calls for application of CBK Governor, deputy positions

The Public Service Commission is seeking applications for the Central Bank Governor and Deputy Governor posts.

This comes as the current CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge's tenure ends in June 2023.
