Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga's supporters on Monday pelted stones at police officers who tried to stop his convoy in Kawangware.

The officers who were first to throw teargas at the convoy had a rough time responding.

The police then boarded their vehicle, and they rushed to safety.

The Opposition leader who was expected to hold demos in the CBD instead chose to go to Kawangware because of the heavy police presence in the city centre.

Last week, their plans to access the CBD were thwarted by the police.

He arrived at Kawangware at around 1.30 pm and addressed the residents.

He was accompanied by his running mate Martha Karua, former devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and other MPs.
