Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni has exonerated Former President Uhuru Kenyatta from accusations directed at him by Kenya Kwanza Alliance over ongoing Azimio La Umoja demos.

Kioni says it is time President William Ruto and his allies stop using Uhuru's name as an excuse for their failures.

He says United Democratic Alliance's inability to govern the country will not go away by dragging the name of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family.

Kioni called on Uhuru's supporters to come out and defend the former head of state.

"The continued use of Uhuru as a scapegoat for all the problems that they have in this country must also stop. Their inability to govern cannot just be wished away by dragging Uhuru's name or his family into it," he said on Wednesday.

"We are also calling upon supporters of Uhuru, his followers and those who appreciate what he did while in office to also come out and state their position."

Kioni also responded to calls by a section of UDA leaders led by Party chairperson and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire and National Assembly majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah, to have Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga arrested over Monday's protests.

He said that they had noted their wishes, calling on the police to act.

"I saw UDA people address a press conference yesterday and they threatened to invade the properties of Uhuru Kenyatta and as secretary general of Jubilee, I want to say that this is now taking it too far. We want police officers to take action on any person who threatens the right to property of any person."

He added that Azimio is only interested in peaceful demonstrations, but it was unfortunate that elected leaders were issuing threats of invading Uhuru's properties.

"As Azimio, we say we are going to have peaceful demonstrations. We are restraining our members from destroying any property but there we have MPs issuing threats that they are going to invade the properties of Uhuru Kenyatta. That must be stopped by the police," Kioni stated.

On Tuesday, UDA leaders called on authorities to hold Raila and other Azimio leaders accountable for damages caused during their demonstrations on Monday.

"We want them to be charged for every stone thrown, property destroyed and looted and lives lost, no matter who they are," they said in a statement read by UDA's Chairperson Cecily Mbarire.

They also accused Uhuru of sponsoring the demonstrations, adding that he should be held accountable for the damages as well.
