Lawyer Miguna Miguna has differed with Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah's assertion that the Azimio protests have degenerated into a Luo affair.

The Majority Leader had claimed in a tweet on Monday that the Luo community is under siege from "anarchists" and they have failed to rescue themselves "from this enslavement."

"We shall offer free lessons from our Mt Kenya rescue experience. Kudos to the Nyanza leaders who have begun this journey," Ichung'wah said.

But the outspoken lawyer pointed out that among the Azimio lieutenants leading the mass action are not from Nyanza as he insinuated.

"Mr Majority Leader: don’t spoil the name of the Luo Nation. Savanna Beatles like Sifuna, Mutua and Junet aren’t from the Nile Basin," he said.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and lawyer Makau Mutua were at the forefront as Azimio mass action finally got underway on Monday.

The legislators were at some point teargassed by police as they peacefully walked in the CBD near City Hall in the early hours of Monday.

Three Azimio leaders were also arrested, including Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi.

Makau on the other hand accompanied Raila as he traversed Nairobi and its environs to rally his supporters to mount pressure on the Kenya Kwanza government with weekly protests every Monday.
