"After the morning session the Kisumu deputy governor Mathew Owili addressed the media and was scheduled for an African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) Governing Council meeting in Ciala," he said.

"As he was leaving, he encountered a group of protesters who unfortunately interrupted what was otherwise a successful event."

Muchiri said Owili managed to get to the 65th official opening of the AFRALTI Governing Council.

Kisumu protesters on Wednesday stormed the function in Kisumu and destroyed properties.

The demonstrators stormed the venue to seek an audience with the ICT and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo.

They claimed Owalo was being used by President William Ruto to destabilise the region and go against Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

However, Owalo was not present at the function.

Owalo has condemned the Azimio protesters for storming CA event saying that Kenya does not have a place for such an act.

The CS termed the act as regrettable!

"This is lowly banditry and hooliganism. It is hugely regrettable. There is no place for such base conduct in the social order," he said.

"It is regrettable that a group of youth, ostensibly doing a demo in Kisumu, this morning disrupted an official function of the CA, presided over by the CA Director General Ezra Chiloba."

Other leaders who attended include the director of general Communications Authority of Kenya Ezra Chiloba, Safaricom PLC's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Stephen Kiptinness, Airtel Kenya's Customer Experience Director Goldermier Opiyo and Wananchi Group (Kenya) Limited's Customer Experience Director Jane Kebenei.
