• NPS on Monday announced that Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow will lead the security operation in six bandit-prone North Rift counties.
Police officers in Samburu North on Monday received a G3 riffle and ammunition surrendered by a resident.
The National Police Service in a statement said the riffle was handed over to the police through the help of the chief.
“On 13/03/2023, SCCIO Samburu North received one (1) G3 Riffle loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition. The rifle was surrendered from the Nachola location by one male adult, and handed over to Police in Baragoi through Nachola chief,” NPS said.
NPS on Monday announced that Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow will lead the security operation in six bandit-prone North Rift counties.
"The new Commander of Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift is Mr Noor Gabow, who is also the Deputy Inspector General," NPS said.
"Mr Gabow met with the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Peter Mbogo Njiru at Chemolingot Multi-Agency Command Centre on March 11, 2023, as part of their strategic security engagement."
The Kenya Defence Forces are supporting the NPS to restore peace and normalcy in the North Rift.
The operation is being conducted in six counties of Samburu, Turkana, Baringo, Laikipia, West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet.
