Driver burns to death after oil tanker explodes

The driver of a fuel tanker was on Saturday evening burnt to death after the vehicle exploded following an accident on Kisumu-Nairobi Highway at Awasi.

Regional Traffic Officer Mwangi Nga'ng'a said the petrol tanker which which was heading to Nairobi collided head on with a lorry that was transporting construction materials.

Nanga said the driver of the tanker was burnt in the vehicle when fire exploded while two people who were in the tipper escaped unhurt.

Residents who witnessed the accident failed to save the driver as the flames of the fire were too hot.
