Trade CS Moses Kuria and a section of governors led by the council of governors chairperson Anne Waiguru on Thursday visited Tatu City.

The leaders took the "study tour" to the City and Twiga Foods Aggregation Centre in Kiambu, as part of the preparations to set up industrial parks in the counties.

"The key objective of the visit was to benchmark on the dynamics of setting up industrial parks in the counties, securing markets for goods and services as well as exploiting potential value chain opportunities," Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti said.

Ndeti said she was looking forward to the increased capacity of the counties to establish and develop profitable industrial enterprises.

The chair of Trade and Industrialization in the CoG added that this will result in the creation of more job opportunities for Kenyans and also grow local economies.

They also attended a similar event at the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute.

"Now heading to Kenya Industrial Research & Development Institute. The learning continues," Waiguru said.

The tours follow the government's plan to set up aggregation and industrial parks in the 47 counties.

This is aimed at boosting agriculture and adding to the value of farm products.

Speaking in Nakuru during an inspection tour at the Bondeni Affordable Housing Project on February 13, President William Ruto said it will also help attract both local and international investors.

"We will allocate the first Sh100 million to every county for the construction of Industrial and Aggregation Park so that we can have aggregation on all our farm products," he said.

Tatu City, which sits on a 5,000-acre of land, is the first operational Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the country.
