Opposition MPs who attend Azimio rallies should not be allowed to see President William Ruto over development projects, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has said.

The lawmaker holds that it's hypocritical for a leader to seek development support for his constituents from the same government he castigates at opposition rallies.

"And there are political leaders we want to tell mambo ya kuwa political hermaphrodites muachane nayo. Wewe Orengo, wewe Ongwae haiwezi kuwa jumatatu hadi jumanee mko kwa ofisi za serikali Nairobi, mnaomba barabara, hospitali, maji halafu ikifika weekend mnakuja kutukana same same government ambayo inaongozwa na William Ruto," Cheruiyot said.

He spoke over the weekend in Kericho where he had accompanied Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for a subsidised fertiliser distribution drive.

The DP said this was part of the Kenya Kwanza government's resolve to boost production for food security.

Cheruiyot said since the DP is known for fearlessly speaking the truth, he should not allow any leader spotted at any anti-government rally to any government office.

"Because that's the reality. If you don't recognise the government, then the government does not recognise you even," he said.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has in recent days held that he does not recognise President William Ruto nor his government as a legitimate regime.

He avers that he won the August 9, a presidential election with 8.1 million votes against Ruto's 5.9 million and has vowed to escalate protests until Ruto leaves office.

Siaya Senator James Orengo are among Raila's lieutenants who have supported this resolution and have been at every public baraza organised by Raila this past month in Nairobi, Kisii and Kisumu.

Cheruiyot said it shouldn't be that the same leaders seen at rallies bashing the 'illegitimate government' are the same ones to be seen queuing at public offices seeking services from permanent secretaries.

"Ukitaka maji, enda kwa Raila akupatie (if you want water, go get it from Raila," Cheruiyot said.

The senator appeared to be reading from the same script as Gachagua who when he stood to speak at the same function, said the Kenya Kwanza government only serves those who voted for it.

"This Government is like a company guaranteed by shares. There are those with many shares and those with few shares. Therefore those who voted for us and supported us must enjoy the benefits first," Gachagua said.

The remarks have elicited mixed reactions with a section of Kenyans saying the remarks are senseless while others said the DP was spot on.
