President William Ruto has said the government will allocate Sh1oo million to every county for the construction of Industrial and Aggregation Parks.

This is aimed at boosting agriculture and adding to the value of farm products.

Speaking in Nakuru during an inspection tour at the Bondeni Affordable Housing Project, Ruto added that it will help attract both local and international investors.

"We will allocate the first Sh100 million to every county for the construction of Industrial and Aggregation Park so that we can have aggregation on all our farm products," he said.

Ruto said the process of disbursing fertiliser to help farmers had already begun.

On Sunday, Trade and Investment CS Moses Kuria said the establishment of the parks across the 47 counties will guarantee direct sale to local and international markets through a network of international logistics companies.

He also said there was a place to set up agro-processing and value addition cottage industries in the counties to help spur local economic growth.

"We are piloting in three identified counties which we want to increase to ten in the immediate phase and roll out in the next Financial Year," Kuria said.

In the Central region, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has initiated the construction of Sagana Industrial City gazetted as a Special Economic Zone.

She said it will be the first Climate-smart Agro-Industrial City in the region.

"Our County Executive and Assembly teams came with me to expand our vision with fantastic progress of Tatu Industrial City. What the mind can conceive, with the right team and support guaranteed by President William Samoei Ruto, we will achieve at Sagana," she said during a visit to Tatu City in January.

The Agro-Industrial City will be put up on 250-acre land.
