A 26-year-old man died by suicide at the house of his girlfriend in Dagoretti Corner area, Nairobi.

The body of Christopher Muiruri was found dangling in the bathroom after what was said a failed reconciliation.

The victim and his girlfriend had a quarrel and the man went to reconcile.

"The reconciliation did not work out and I woke up on Sunday morning and left for work leaving him in the house," she said.

She was shocked when she came back in the evening and found his body hanging on the roof of the bathroom.

Police said they are investigating the incident. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

The World Health Organisation says such cases are attributed to joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties and financial difficulties.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
