"In 2027, we will come here with one party, the one the president will use to defend his seat. That is the part we will use to compete with ODM," Khalwale said in an undated clip he shared online on Monday.

The senator said he is keen on seeing a united Luhya nation in the 2027 elections and warned that his sentiments should not be seen as madness.

Western Kenya has for years been viewed as a perceived ODM stronghold but the dynamics changed ahead of the 2022 August polls when two of his key allies Moses Wetang'ula of Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC decamped to Kenya Kwanza.

Khalwale said he has advised the community time and again to throw their weight behind the president for their own good failure to which they stand to lose big time.

"You will be seeing in Nyanza Sh3.2 billion has been disbursed while we get nothing here," Khalwale said.

The second-term senator said working with the president is the most logical thing to do "because he is the CEO of the country."

Great expectations are awaiting Wetang'ula and Mudavadi by way of their close proximity to the centre of the country's power.

Upon election, Wetang'ula was elected the National Assembly Speaker with the backing of UDA party MPs while Mudavadi bagged the newly created Prime Cabinet Secretary slot.

This is despite them failing to deliver 70 per cent of the Western vote they were mandated under a pact they signed with President Ruto prior to the elections.

The two are now considered the most influential leaders from Western Kenya.
