Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has rewarded the only MCA who stood by her during her impeachment.

Mwangaza on Tuesday visited Kiagu ward in Central Imenti and launched a roads grading project.

The governor lauded Kiagu MCA Simon Kiambi who stood by her when he was impeached by 68 MCAs in December.

She said she will reward Kiambi with more goodies in terms of development for his loyalty.

"When you scratch my back I will scratch yours. When I was facing the impeachment turmoil, I noticed Kiambi was the only one who stood with me and I asked him what I could do," Mwangaza said.

The governor who was accompanied by her deputy Mutuma M'ithinkia launched the construction and grading of six kilometres of Kiamuri-Muthithi-Kiraka road and 9.9 kms of Nguna-Mworoto-Muthijine-Mpuga-Mati road.

Mwangaza expressed fervent gratitude towards Kiambi for his steadfast support towards her.

"He is an exemplary servant leader who prioritises the needs of his electorate before his own," she said.

The governor also promised to fully sponsor 20 students for every 50 students that Kiambi sponsors, to access technical skills.

Kiambi said he stood by Mwangaza as he did not see any wrongdoing with the county boss.

He urged other MCAs to work with the governor now that reconciliatory efforts are underway.

"At the end of the day, you will be judged by the people according to your development," Kiambi said.

M'ithinkia said other MCAs should emulate Kiambi.
