President William Ruto has summoned his Cabinet for a five-day retreat.

State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam confirmed to the Star that the retreat will be in Nyeri from January 5.

The retreat is said to be for the executive arm of government that included advisers and Principal Secretaries.

The meeting will be chaired by Ruto, the agenda is to adopt the administration's economic transformation plan based on priorities such as food security and job creation.

Giving his New Year's speech on Saturday in Mombasa, the President said the government is committed to reviving the economy.

Ruto said the government will not shy away from making tough decisions aimed at sustainable economic growth.

He said the removal of subsidies on basic commodities saves the country over Sh25 billion per month.

The President added that the government was also implementing a debt management plan to lessen the country's loan burden.
