Fans in Brazil will on Monday pay their last respect to football legend Pele.
The icon regarded as the greatest player of all time and a three-time World Cup winner died on December 29, 2022 at the age of 82.
Dignitaries and fans will gather at the Vila Belmiro Stadium in Santos, to pay last respects to Pele.
The funeral will be held on Monday and Tuesday.
As reported by Africanews, the coffin carrying the three-time World Cup champion will leave Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo early Monday morning and will be placed in the center circle of the field.
Visitation will start Monday at 10 a.m. and finish the next day at the same time.
Pelé's casket will be carried through the streets of Santos and will pass in front of the home of his 100-year-old mother, Celeste.
Recent reports in Brazilian media say Pelé's mother cannot leave her bed and is not lucid.
The burial will take place at the Memorial Necrópole Ecumênica, a vertical cemetery in Santos. Only family will attend.
Santos which is home to atleast two million people including Pele, it is expected that the ceremony will be emotional.
A tent where Pele's remains will be placed has been erected in the centre of the pitch at the Villa Belmiro stadium.
Big crowds are expected to converge in the city and surrounding area that is home to almost 2 million people for what is expected to be a deeply emotional ceremony.
Brazil entered three days of mourning following Pelé's death.
