Sigh of relief as Kiambu governor Kimani Wamatangi pledges to give Kiambu level five hospital a major facelift.

He said that the hospital was in dire need of proper equipment, medical drugs and specialists.

Speaking on Wednesday during a meeting with hospital management, the county boss said that all has to be done to make the hospital a state-of-the-art facility.

Wamatangi was accompanied by County Executive Committee Member for healthJoseph Murega and Chief Officer Patrick Nyaga.

The county boss also noted that the facility is in dire need of expansion to ease congestion, modern equipment as well as additional medical and supportive personnel.

The uplift is part of the Governor's efforts to improve healthcare in the county through a Universal Health Coverage program.

"I will deliberately push for, and oversee proper management, which the hospital management has committed itself to,  to ensure the facility offers quality service," Wamatangi said.

He further said that the administration will continue supplying medical drugs to all the hospitals in Kiambu County.

About a month ago, the governor distributed drugs worth more than sh 60 million to various health facilities in the county and launched a mass recruitment drive for NHIF.

Wamatangi further said that he will give special attention to the Thika and Gatundu level five hospitals among others to ensure that locals get the best they deserve.

Medical Superintendent Anthony Murage said that the hospital will continue attending to problems that would derail service delivery.

Speaking during an interview with Star, former Riabai ward aspirant Charles Kang'ethe popularly known as Char-low congratulated the governor for his initiative to improve the health facility.

He said the new development is expected to give the facility, which has been grappling with poor infrastructure, a major facelift.

"We are very happy for this administration and the effort by Governor to give the facility a new look is commendable," he said.

Kiamwangi ward MCA Kung'u Smart has also urged Wamatangi to also consider Gatundu level five hospital and make it better.

He said that medical facilities when we'll be equipped help to make the delivery of services effective and attractive.

Murera ward MCA Moses Ngatha has also urged the government to act and manage the health crisis in various wards.

He stated that the administration is committed to service delivery and urged locals to support the governor.

“We should now embark on the job and deliver our campaign promises to the people who elected us to power, ”Ngatha said.
