Robbers kill guard, steal church equipment in Matungulu

Police in Matungulu, Machakos county have launched a manhunt for suspected robbers who broke into a church and murdered the guard before stealing equipment.

The incident happened on Thursday night at Nguluni Redeemed Gospel Church in Matungulu.

A neighbour to the church said the guard had injuries to his head and stomach, urging the police to tighten security patrols in the area.

The senior pastor at Dorcas City Church, Reverend John Nzomo, said the robbers stole cordless microphones, three amplifiers, two mixers, two cameras and two iPhones.

"I was called in the morning at 4.45am  by the pastor to tell me that one of the guard, who is also a pastor was murdered. That is sad news. I hope the police will catch the perpetrators," Nzomo said.

The night guard's body was taken to mortuary as police continue with investigations.
