Interior PS Raymond Omollo said on Sunday that the venue of the celebrations is ready to receive Kenyans from all walks of life and invited foreign dignitaries.

He said over 20,000 Kenyans are expected to grace the event.

"We expect to start very early, members of the public are expected to start streaming in from as early as 6am. Directions on traffic flow in and out of the stadium will be communicated," the PS said.

"In terms of security we have adequate preparations, we are working very closely with security personnel so Kenyans should not be worried about their security for those who will be coming to the stadium."

The PS said security will also be enhanced in counties where parallel celebrations will be held at county headquarters presided over by county commissioners as has been the tradition.

"We want to encourage and invite Kenyans to come and participate and those who will not be in Nairobi to attend the county celebrations in their respective counties," Omollo said.

He said the celebrations at Nyayo Stadium which will be presided over by President William Ruto are expected to end at 1pm followed by a luncheon at Ruto's official residence in Karen.

The Jamhuri Day celebrations will be ICT themed with all adult attendees being eligible for scholarships.

"Like we mentioned here on Wednesday, there is an ongoing ICT week as part of the Jamhuri celebrations which is being conducted at KICC and as we go through the programme for the week, details of the sucessful scholars will be communicated," Omollo.
