Museveni's son Muhoozi threatens to 'crush' journalists

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba is courting controversy yet again.

The former UPDF commander known for making abrasive statements has his guns trained on members of the fourth estate this time around.

In a tweet on Monday, Muhoozi threatened to 'crush' members of a leading media outlet for attacking the NRM.

"For some of those journalists that like to abuse us...let me say. Nobody will protect you when we come to power! You'll feel us soon. We will crush you!!!"

In a consecutive tweet, Muhoozi accused the outlet of spreading propaganda against the ruling National Resistance Movement.

Muhoozi has been in the media limelight since early October when he threatened Kenya with military invasion and the capture of Nairobi.

He has in between made several other controversial statements which were all downplayed by his father as harmless.

Museveni even somewhat rewarded his eldest son with a promotion in the military by elevating him to a full General even after the cryptic tweets which threatened to tear diplomatic links with Kenya. 

On Friday last week, Muhoozi downplayed the military intervention in eastern DRC by East African countries saying the move will not restore peace in the region.

"Maybe they need to call a real General back to sort it out? he posed.

Uganda is an ally of Rwanda and has defended the country over allegations that it is behind the violence in eastern DRC.

Rwanda has consistently denied the allegations of funding the M23 which is largely constituted of Tutsi rebels who fled Rwanda during the 1994 genocide.
