Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Director-General Brig (Rtd) John Waweru was Monday sent on compulsory leave in changes.

Officials said Wildlife Secretary Erastus Kanga replaces him in an acting capacity.

The move to send Brig Waweru was sent on compulsory leave came moments after attending the handing over ceremony of Principal Secretaries to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.

The newly appointed PS’ John Ololtuaa -Tourism, Silvia Kihoro- Wildlife and Ummi Bashir - Heritage assumed office at the Ministry Headquarters on Monday.

Waweru has been steering a number of changes at KWS.

It’s not clear yet what triggered the move to send him on leave.
