Jubilee Party will not be fielding any candidates in the upcoming by-elections in Kandara constituency, Garissa Township and Elgeyo Marakwet.

Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said the decision has been informed by findings of the Supreme Court that IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati acted unilaterally without involving other commissioners in making core decisions in the August 9 elections.

"Further, Chebukati should have proceeded on terminal leave pending appointment of a new chairman," he said.

"It is clear Chebukati is being used by the regime to suffocate democracy."

Kioni spoke during a press conference at party headquarters on Monday.

"The party will thereafter embark on a sustained effort to win back the confidence and trust of our people," he said.

He further added that the party will support any peaceful and sustainable efforts aimed at promoting good governance.

"We wish to strongly reiterate that we remain steadfast supporters of Azimio coalition led by Raila Odinga," Kioni said.

He said Jubilee will soon issue a comprehensive statement on state of the nation, the two Houses of Parliament, IEBC and delimitation exercise.

"Electoral reforms is not about four people. You can see how they want to change the IEBC selection panel. We are not happy and that is why we will be part of the rallies," he said.

He said pulling out of the by-elections was one of the ways to exert pressure on Kenya Kwanza admnistration to embrace good governance.
