National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has urged Kenyans to embrace peace and work together regardless of their differences.

He said there was a need to embrace development and peaceful co-existence for the purposes of building the country’s economy.

Speaking in Bungoma County, the Speaker lauded MPs, who went for a recess on Thursday, saying they conducted themselves with a high level of decorum during the first session.

"We have just concluded the First Session of the 13th Parliament and members are proceeding to their recess to join their constituents during the festive season. NG-CDF is now in place hence I urge MPs to embark on rigorous plans to utilize the resources geared towards uplifting developments including distribution of bursaries to schools among others," he added.

Wetangula further urged Kenyans to keep the peace during the festivities, acknowledging that the country is going through hard economic times.

He said President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration had the best interests of the country in mind.

The Speaker said the Hustler Fund is a great milestone and a step into economic revolution in the country.

He also called for a peaceful period during the Bungoma Senatorial by-election slated for December 8, 2022.

The seat became vacant after Wetangula was elected Speaker.

Pointing out that examinations are but test tools to gauge the performance of students, he wished the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education candidates success.

"I wish all students taking exams the best of luck as they write their exams in fulfilment of their dreams," he said.
