Standard 8 and Grade 6 pupils on Monday started their national examinations.

Prisoners are also among those who are writing KCPE exams.

At Kitui GK Prison, over 19 prisoners with some serving capital sentences are sitting the national exam.

The prisoners were seen in cuffs and escorted by police to the schools.

During the examination time, they were uncuffed.
