Trump takes early lead in poll to reinstate him on Twitter

The poll commissioned by Elon Musk had 'Yes' vote at 52 per cent as at 4pm Saturday.

Former US President Donald Trump could make a comeback on Twitter if the outcome of a Twitter poll remain favourable to him.

Billionaire Elon Musk commissioned the poll Saturday on whether or not Trump should be reinstated on the social media platform.

As at 4pm Saturday, the poll had over 9.6 million votes with 12 hours to go.

Those in favour of Trump's reinstatement were leading with 52 per cent of the vote.

Trump was on January 8, 2021 permanently suspended after he posted messages that violated Twitter rules.

This followed incitement of his supporters to storm the US Capitol leading to the deaths of four civilians and a police officer.

On Friday, Musk reinstated three people but said a decision on Trump's return on the platform was still pending.
