Tough week for Ruto PS nominees as vetting begins

11 nominees face vetting panels on Monday

President William Ruto’s nominees for Principal Secretary positions will from Monday face MPs to defend their suitability for the jobs.

The nominees will appear before the various committees of the National Assembly for the week-long vetting exercise that ends on Friday.

Unlike the Cabinet Secretary nominees who faced the appointments committee chaired by Speaker Moses Wetangula, the PS nominees will appear before their respective departmental committees.

On Monday, 11 nominees will face the vetting panels from 9 am to 6.30 pm.

Between 9 am and 11 am, Cabinet Affairs PS Julius Korir, his Crops and National Treasury counterparts Philip Harsame and Chris Kiptoo respectively, will be vetted.

The three will appear before Administration and Internal Affairs committee, Agriculture committee and Finance and Planning committee respectively.

Interior PS nominees Raymond Omollo, Livestock’s Development’s Harry Kimutai and Economic Planning’s James Muhati will face the same committees between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm.

Citizen Services PS nominee Julius Bitok and Medical services PS pick Peter Tum will be vetted by the Administration and Internal Affairs committee and Health committee respectively between 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm.

The last nominees to be vetted on Monday are Aurella Rono and Josephine Mburu who have been picked as Parliamentary Affairs PS and Health standards PS respectively.

They will be vetted by Administration and Internal Affairs committee and Health committee respectively.

On Tuesday, Performance and Delivery Management PSs nominee Esther Ngero, and her Defence and Trade counterparts Patrick Mariro and Alfred K’Ombundo will face Administration and Internal Affairs committee, Defence committee and Trade committee respectively.

The vetting will happen between 9 am and 11 am

They will pave the way for the vetting of Blue Economy PS nominee Betsy Njagi, Foreign Affairs PS nominee Korir Sing’oel and Investment Promotion PS nominee Abubakar Hassan between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm.

Nominees Gitonga Mugambi (Irrigation), Roseline Njogu (Diaspora) and Juma Mukhwana (Cooperatives) will be vetted by the committee on Blue economy and irrigation, Defense and Cooperatives respectively.

Nominees Paul Ronoh (Water and Sanitation), Abdi Dubart (EAC Affairs) and Patrick Kilemi will face the committees from 5 pm and 6.30 pm.

On Wednesday, nominees Shadrack Mwadiwe (Shipping), Alex Wachira (Energy) and Susan Mangeni (MSMEs) will be vetted between 9 am and 11 am.

They will be vetted by Committees on Blue Economy and Irrigation, Energy and MSMEs Development respectively.

The Education committee will vet Basic Education PS nominee Belio Kipsang from 11.30 am.

At the same time, Petroleum PS pick Mohamed Liban will be before the Energy committee and Festus Ngeno will be before the Environment committee for vetting for Environment PS.

Between 2.30 and 4.30 pm, nominees Esther Muhoria (Tvet), Correctional Services (Caroline Murage) and Ephantus Kimotho (Forestry) will be vetted by their respective departmental committees.

Beatrice Inyangala and Elijah Mwani will be vetted by Education Committee and Mining Committee for Higher Education and Mining PS jobs respectively between 5 pm and 6.30 pm.

Some 11 nominees will be vetted on Thursday.

They are Charles Hinga (Housing), Geoffrey Kaituko (Labour), Joseph Mbugua (Roads), Joel Arumonyang (Public Works), Amos Gatheca (Public Works) and Mohamed Dhagar (Transport).

Others are Teresia Malokwe (Devolution), Jonathan Mueke (Sports and Arts), Idris Dogota (ASALs) and Ummy Bashir (Culture).

Eight nominees will be vetted on the final day on Friday.

They are John Ololtuaa (Tourism), Edward Kisiangani (Broadcasting), Veronica Nduva (Gender), Sylvia Muhoro (Wildlife), John Tanui (ICT), Nixon Korir (Lands), Joseph Mutavi (Social Protection) and Ismail Madey (Youth Affairs).
