Man detained for 27 days for allegedly killing wife

A Narok court has granted police 27 days to detain a 72-year-old man who allegedly hacked his wife to death in unclear circumstances at their home last week.

It is alleged that Zachariah Silatei Ngetich killed Judy Silantei, 45, at Kimogoro within Narok South and then set their house on fire.

He later took poison but did not die.

He was rescued by good Samaritans while unconscious. 

An application was made in court seeking to transfer Ngetich from a private hospital in Bomet to the Narok County Hospital.

The court allowed the application by the police to transfer the suspect and upon discharge be remanded at Ololunga police station.

Ngetich will remain at the station for 27 days to enable police complete investigations.
