Trade CS Moses Kuria and the US Trade representative Ambassador Katherine Tai on Thursday held talks on how to strengthen trade and investment ties.

The talks aimed to iron out how Kenya and the United States will work together with the new government.

“We discussed various ways through which we will develop the trade & investment relations between Kenya and the United States under our Strategic Trade & Investment Programme,” Kuria said.

The CS said he foresees a great future as both states are pushing for trade and investment as the driving force of the bottom up and middle-out policies shared by President William Ruto and US President Joe Biden.

His counterpart Ambassador Tai said she is looking forward for better engagement with Kenya.

“I look forward to pursuing strong working relations that advances the economic and trade goals of the U.S. and Kenya,” Tai said.

The two are expected to meet in December in Washington DC on the sidelines of the US Africa Summit.

Last month, Ruto said he was seeking to improve the bilateral trade relations with the US.

He said he seeks to establish “new relationships and strategic partnerships” with the American businesspeople to improve the country’s economy.

Ruto said Kenya is ready for investments and the partnerships with the American businesses will help improve the country’s economic and social transformation.

“Investors can predict the future of Kenya because it’s a democratic country. We have demonstrated as the people of Kenya that the rule of law underpins public affairs,” he said.
