Kenya Kwanza MPs led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wa have convened an urgent press briefing in Parliament.

The press conference slated for 12:30pm comes at a time when President William Ruto's government is under intense pressure from the opposition.

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition led by Raila Odinga has particularly has warned Ruto's administration against increasing taxes to finance his manifesto.

At the same time, Raila has criticised the ongoing probe into alleged extra-judicial killings by a disbanded police squad, terming the move a 'witch hunt by Ruto” to avenge on the DCI officers.

Raila has defended former DCI boss George Kinoti saying he is being framed and persecuted by the Ruto administration.

At least nine DCI officers who served under the defunct Special Services Unit have been arraigned over abductions and murder of Kenyans and Indian nationals.
