Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa can now visit Bungoma County.

This is after Kakamega High Court Judge, Justice Patrick J Otieno issued orders lifting the ban that barred him from visiting the county, following his murder charges.

"It is hereby ordered that the application dated 19.09.2022 is allowed to the extent that the terms of bond that the accused never visit Kimilili constituency, and the larger Bungoma County are set aside," the directive read.

The order was issued on Tuesday, October 24, before the prosecution lawyer Kiprop and defence lawyer, Danstan Omari.

Barasa, through Omari, had written an application for a review of the visiting terms, saying they interfered with his mandate as the MP of Kimilili.

On August 24, the court granted Barasa a bond of Sh10 million with a surety of Sh5 million.

He is accused of shooting and killing the aide to his August 9 general elections competitor, Brian Khaemba.

It was alleged that Barasa shot Brian Odinga Olunga at Chebukwabi polling station on election day.

He denied the charges.

He was held in custody for two weeks and was ordered to surrender his passport.

Barasa was also barred from addressing the media or commenting on the details of the case.

The case conference is set for November 14.
